THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC LADIES PROMOTION PUSH

…Scarborough Ladies FC now just five steps away from the Premier League!
Scarborough Ladies FC, with whom Scarborough Athletic hope to link up further in the coming months, are on the verge of promotion to step five of the Women's FA pyramid.
They currently play at step six in the North Riding Women's Football League, and promotion in a play-off game against Bolden in Durham on Sunday would see them leap to the North East Regional Women's Football League. That division is just three steps from the FA Women's Premier League Northern Division, where the likes of Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Man City's Ladies teams all play.
The women's league structure can be viewed here:

The club recently became an FA Charter Standard club - a huge boost which allows more development of the club as a whole, from the senior side to the youngest junior teams. An under 14s and 16s team are currently running along side the senior set-up, and an under 12s side could be formed soon.
Plans for this Sunday's play-off have been hit with some key players in the Scarborough Ladies side travelling to Wembley for the Leeds United vs Donaster play-off final, but club official Natalie Davies remains confident.
Good luck to the girls from everyone at Scarborough Athletic FC.

Below is a match report from the Scarborough Ladies last game against Sheriff Hutton Ladies.
Scarborough Ladies 6 Sheriff Hutton Ladies 0.

Scarborough Ladies qualified for the promotion play offs this week after beating Sheriff Hutton at home. Scarborough Ladies were determined to secure a win and showed this by commanding the ball from the kick off. It didn't take long before Boro got off the mark with Jo Webster converting a well taken corner from Dani Halifax. This was soon followed up with Laura Bluck scoring her first of the game. constant pressure was put on the keeper but the Sheriff Hutton defence stood strong. Sheriff Hutton came close to pulling one back on the counter attack only for the shot to go wide. The second half came and Boro started even stronger. They started their barrage of goals with Natalie Davies taking on a defender and putting a precise ball through to Bluck who struck the ball into the back of the net to complete her brace. Josie Fullard was next to score after been picked out from a Davies cross. Sheriff Hutton never gave up and started a strong attack only for keeper Kasey Hill to pull off a fantastic reflex save. The next goal came after a Fullard cross was flicked on from Davies for Laura Errington to tap the ball across the line. Fullard then went on to complete her brace for the game after good link up from the two strikers. Scarborough Ladies now travel up to Bolden, Durham in the play off final this Sunday, 2pm Kick Off.
