THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

WE HOST THE CHAMPIONS

SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC PLAYED HOST TO LEAGUE CHAMPIONS DINNINGTON AND WERE UNLUCKY NOT TO HAVE PICKED UP ALL THE THREE POINTS WHICH WERE ON OFFER.
THE FINAL RESULT WAS A 1-1 DRAW, BUT SOME UNBELIEVABLE REFEREEING DECISIONS COST THE BORO DEARLY.
REFEREE HRISTO KARAIVANOV WAS CLUELESS, AND HIS WAS THE WORST PERFORMANCE FROM AN OFFICIAL AT QUEENSGATE ALL SEASON. BORO HAD 4 PENALTY APPEALS ALL TURNED DOWN AND A PERFECTLY GOOD GOAL FROM DAVE THOMPSON DISSALLOWED FOR OFFSIDE. THE LOCAL PAPER MARKED THE OFFICIAL 2 OUT OF 10 WHICH SPEAKS FOR ITSELF, AND I THINK THAT WAS WAY TOO GENEROUS, THE MAN WAS A CLOWN, CERTAINLY NOT FIT TO BE IN CHARGE OF GAMES AT THIS LEVEL.
BORO STARTED THE BRIGHTER AND HAD A HOST OF EARLY CHANCES AND FINALLY IN THE 19th MINUTE BORO OPENED THE SCORING.
BORO'S SCORER WAS RICHARD MEDCALFE WHO SLOTTED THE BALL HOME FROM A GRIFFIN CROSS.
BORO WERE THE BETTER TEAM FOR MUCH OF THE GAME, ALTHOUGH DINNINGTOIN DID LOOK DANGEROUS ON OCCASION.
HAD THE REFEREE DONE HIS JOB AS HE SHOULD HAVE THEN BORO WOULD HAVE BEEN 3 OR 4 GOALS TO THE GOOD WHEN DINNINGTON DID GRAB AN EQUALISER IN THE 47th MINUTE THROUGH ALLOTT.
TO BE FAIR IT WAS DINNINGTON WHO COULD HAVE WON THE GAME IN THE LATER STAGES, DAVE BRAMLEY IN THE BORO GOAL PLAYED THE BEST I HAVE EVER SEEN HIM, HE HAD AN INSPIRED GAME AND IT WAS THANKS TO DAVE IN THE END THAT BORO DID HANG ON AND KEEP THE SCORE AT 1-1. A FAR CRY FROM SOME OF MY "DODGY DAVE" POSTS DURING THE FIRST FEW GAMES OF THE SEASON WAY BACK IN AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER.
A VERY DECENT CROWD OF 539 WATCHED THE GAME AND IT WAS NICE TO HAVE SOME VISITING SUPPORTERS IN THE GROUND FOR A CHANGE TO CREATE A VERY GOOD ATMOSPHERE.
ONLY 3 GAMES REMAIN NOW TO THE END OF THE SEASON, AN AWAY GAME THIS SATURDAY AT PONTEFRACT, A GAME I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TRAVEL TO, THEN THE FOLLOWING WEEK, ANOTHER AWAY TRIP, THIS TIME TO DERBYSHIRE TO VISIT BORROWASH, BORO BEAT THEM 8-0 ONLY A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO AT QUEENSGATE SO CONFIDENCE WILL BE HIGH AND I THINK THE BORO FANS WILL BE OUT IN FORCE FOR THIS GAME, IN SPITE OF IT BEING THE LONGEST JOURNEY OF THE LEAGUE SEASON.
FINALLY ANOTHER WEEK LATER COMES THE FINAL MATCH OF THE SEASON, A HOME GAME AGAINST STAVELY.
SO OUR FIRST EVER SEASON AS A CLUB IS ALMOST OVER, AND IT HAS BEEN A SUCCESS FROM DAY ONE, NEXT SEASON SHOULD SEE BORO WALK AWAY WITH THE TITLE AND PROBARBLY FINISH THE SEASON UNBEATEN.
UP THE BORO..................................
