THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

SKIPPER WALTHAM DECIDES TO LEAVE CLUB.

Sad news for "Boro" as skipper Jamie Waltham decides it is the right time to leave the club.
I stated a couple of posts ago that I thought it was time for Jamie to part company with the club as his discipline has let him and the team down badly recently, but in all honesty I never thought for one moment that he would actually go.
He puts a lot of blame on the standard of refereeing for his decision to leave, but I wonder if we had gained promotion this season would Jamie still be here- 'bad ref's or not'.
He says that he wants to play his football at a higher level, fair enough, so why not just be honest and say "I'm leaving because I want to play at a higher level" simple enough.
The standard of refereeing in the Northern Counties East League is terrible, but I doubt that it would be a major factor in making Jamie want to leave the club.
He said that his sending off at bottom club Pontefract on Saturday was the final straw, and that he should not have been sent off, sorry Jamie but in this instance the decision to send you off was one of the very few decisions that the referee actually got right.
If a player seeks revenge for an earlier incident by elbowing an opponent in a dangerous manner then he can expect an early bath in my opinion.
Jamie's words.."There was no way I should have been sent off on Saturday, I just seem to be victimised by referees at this level, it has been spoiling my weekends, so after Saturday's game I decided to call it a day".
Jamie said that he had no regrets at joining the club, and he praised both the fans and manager Brian France.
Scarborough Athletic will miss Jamie's commanding presence in their defence and his ability as a leader, but Brian France will fill the gap which he has left and the club will not suffer in any way.
It is frustrating when a club such as ours, with high expectations, go about their business in a professional manner and work hard both on and off the field of play only to see inept officials undo all their good work by giving stupid decisions which only they know the reason for when it comes to the actual games, the man in black can ruin a seasons hard work with just a blow of his whistle.
It is time that something was done to improve the standard of the officials at this level, during this season I have seen one good performance from an official, I have also witnessed one of the worst performances I have ever seen from a referee at any level in around 40 years of watching football.
The name of the best referee in my opinion to take charge of a Boro game this season is Mr R Tarbatt, he made sensible decisions, he let the game flow and he had good contact with the players. The award for the worst ever display by a man in black goes to Mr H Karaivanov, this man should'nt even be allowed to take charge of an under 5's game, complete idiot.
Anyway, like most Boro fans I wish Jamie Waltham all the best, and good luck in your quest Jamie to find a higher standard of refereeing, or at least a standard which suits your game more, where you can get away with much more than was permitted in this league.
UP THE BORO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
