THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

CAR TROUBLES ON WAY TO RAINWORTH........

Well, I did'nt quite make it to Rainworth, the plan was drop my partner 'Gilly' off in Leeds to meet her son then drop daughter 'Dayle' and grandaughter 'Chelsey' at home in Rothwell before finally getting to Nottinghamshire for the Rainworth v Boro match.
However at 10.30 a.m about 2 miles past Staxton my car exhaust decided to fall apart and so we had to return home to Filey, then take the car to Boro tyres for a new exhaust- a snip at £200.
Finally we set off for Leeds at 1.00p.m, no chance obviously of making it to the match at Rainworth.
But at least Boro got their revenge on high flying Rainworth for the home defeat at Queensgate just 7 days earlier, on that day we were beaten 3-1 and played terrible football.
Boro now reversed that scoreline with a 3-1 victory on Rainworth's ground, after a poor first half, manager Brian France replaced Craig Evans with Mark Griffin, gave an inspired half time team talk and Boro came out a revitalised side and ended up 3-1 victors, Sweet revenge, and it gives us added confidence ahead of the N.R.S.C Semi final tie with York City on Tuesday 25th Feb at Queensgate.
Boro fans have been looking forward to this game for some time now, we have a realistic chance of winning our first trophy as a new club, if we can overcome York in this match then we will play either Whitby Town or Middlesbrough in the final.
Boro v York should be a terrific occasion, York are sure to bring a decent following with them and there should be an excellent atmosphere in the ground.
Boro skipper Jamie Waltham will be missing as he is suspended for not only this game but also the following 3 league matches which are against Bottesford at home and the trips to both Yorkshire Amateurs and Tadcaster Albion respectively.
We are without a game this Saturday, which is a shame as the top 4 clubs are all in opposition with each other, Bottesford play Rainworth while my choice of champions Dinnington Town travel to Gedling Town, a couple of draws would be good, and even though Boro are presently 10 points behind second placed Gedling in the table I think promotion is a real possibility still.
UP THE BORO................................................
