I HAVE JUST GLANCED AT A FEW POSTS ON THE "SURFING SEADOG" FORUM AND THERE IS STILL MUCH DEBATE ABOUT THE EVENTS AT THE EMLEY GAME.
IT IS OBVIOUS TO ME THAT THE CLUB ARE JUST TOO BIG FOR THIS LEAGUE. I SAY THAT WITH THE GREATEST RESPECT FOR ALL THE OTHER CLUBS IN THIS LEAGUE.
WE, THE FANS OF THE CLUB ARE USED TO BIGGER GROUNDS, SEGREGATION, TRAINED STEWARDS ETC.
THE FANS ARE ALLOWED TO GET TOO CLOSE TO THE PLAYERS AND OFFICIALS, FOR EXAMPLE, THE TUNNEL AREA, THERE SHOULD BE A LARGE AREA WHERE NO FANS ARE ALLOWED.
I DON'T REALLY SEE SEGREGATION AN ISSUE, AS I PERSONALLY LIKE TO MIX WITH THE OPPOSING FANS, AND I CANNOT IMAGINE ANY THREAT OF VIOLENCE OCCURING AT ANY OF OUR GAMES. IT IS THE WAY FOOTBALL USED TO BE, AND I HAVE HAD SOME ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCES WITH FANS AT ALL CLUBS WE HAVE VISITED THIS SEASON, THE ONLY EXCEPTION BEING ROSSINGTON, BUT EVEN THAT DAY ALL THE STAFF WERE REALLY FRIENDLY, IT WAS JUST A GROUP OF MORONS TRYING TO CAUSE TROUBLE, AND A GROUP OF 11 PLAYERS AND A MANAGER WHO WERE NO BETTER. THEY WERE A DISGRACE TO AN OTHERWISE FRIENDLY CLUB.
SAYING THAT, WE SHOULD HAVE TRAINED STEWARDS WHO ARE CAPABLE OF ENSURING EVERYONES SAFETY AND MAKING THE DAY AN ENJOYABLE AND SAFE EXPERIENCE FOR BOTH SETS OF FANS, STEWARDS WHO STAND BY AND WATCH FANS ENTER ONTO THE PITCH AND DO NOTHING ARE JUST POINTLESS.
I STILL SAY THAT ANYONE GOING ONTO THE PITCH SHOULD BE BANNED FOR THAT SEASON AND KNOWN PERSISTENT TROUBLEMAKERS SHOULD ALSO BE BANNED.
WE SHOULD BE THANKFUL TO THE NCEL FOR ACCEPTING US AS A NEW CLUB, BUT IF THE RUMOURS REGARDING US BEEN ACCEPTED INTO THE UNIBOND LEAGUE ARE TRUE THEN I THINK THAT WE SHOULD GRAB SUCH AN OPPORTUNITY WITH BOTH HANDS AND NOT THINK OF IT AS AN EASY WAY UP THE PYRAMID, WE ARE AN AMBITIOUS CLUB AND WE WILL EVENTUALLY GET BACK TO THE HIGHER LEAGUES, AND A FRESH START IN THE UNIBOND NEXT SEASON WOULD BE A GREAT BOOST FOR THE CLUB.
SCARBOROUGH FOOTBALL CLUB WERE FORCED INTO LIQUIDATION AT THE END OF THE 2006-07 SEASON. A NEW TRUST RUN CLUB HAS NOW BEEN FORMED "SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC" AND THIS BLOG WILL FOLLOW THEIR FORTUNES, BOTH ON AND OFF THE FOOTBALL FIELD. UP THE BORO !!!
THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION
Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..
THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.
