THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

A DIFFICULT WEEK FOR THE BORO.............

AFTER A DIFFICULT WEEK, SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC RETURNED TO LEAGUE ACTION AGAINST "YORKSHIRE AMATEURS" AT QUEENSGATE.
BORO TURNED IN A MAGNIFICENT TEAM PERFORMANCE, AND CAME OUT WORTHY 3-0 WINNERS.
IT WAS GOOD TO SEE RYAN BLOTT GET HIS FIRST GOAL, HOPEFULLY MORE WILL NOW FOLLOW FROM RYAN.
IRONICALLY, IT WAS THE AMATEURS WHO COULD HAVE TAKEN AN EARLY LEAD, BUT DAVE BRAMLEY IN THE BORO GOAL MADE AN EXCELLENT FINGER TIP SAVE AT FULL STRETCH.
BORO DOMINATED THE GAME, BUT IT WAS NOT UNTIL ALMOST HALF TIME THAT SCOTT PHILLIPS EVENTUALLY FOUND THE BACK OF THE NET.
ABOUT TEN MINUTES AFTER THE RE-START IT WAS INDEED RYAN BLOTT WHO DOUBLED THE BORO'S ADVANTAGE, A NEAT HEADER FROM A GARY HEPPLES CROSS LEFT THE AMATEURS 'KEEPER WITH NO CHANCE OF SAVING.
BORO 2 AMATEURS 0.
BORO COULD HAVE FOLLOWED THIS WITH ANOTHER 5 OR 6 GOALS BUT THEY HAD TO WAIT UNTIL THE DYING MINUTES BEFORE SCOTT PHILLIPS GOT HIS SECOND GOAL OF THE DAY AND BORO'S THIRD FROM A PENALTY GIVEN AFTER A FOUL IN THE AMATEURS AREA.
SADLY, SCOTT FOUND HIMSELF IN THE REFEREES NOTEBOOK FOLLOWING HIS CELEBRATIONS WITH THE BORO FANS.
A REALLY GREAT ALL-ROUND TEAM PERFORMANCE, AND AN EXCELLENT CROWD, LET'S HOPE THAT MOST OF THESE FANS WILL BE AT GEDLING TOWNS NOTTINGHAMSHIRE GROUND NEXT SATURDAY, THEY ARE THE LEAGUE LEADERS AND A FIRST CLASS GAME IS IN PROSPECT.
BORO HAVE HAD THE 6 POINTS DEDUCTED AND BEEN FINED £300 FOR FIELDING 3 SUSPENDED PLAYERS-"CRAIG HOGG,DARREN PHILLIPS AND JOE LIGHTOWLER".

ONCE AGAIN THE CLUB HAVE BEEN BOTH HARSHLY AND UNFAIRLY TREATED. THE RULES ARE THAT WHEN A NEW PLAYER REGISTERS FOR SCARBOROUGH , IT IS THE DUTY OF THE NORTH RIDING COUNTY F.A TO INFORM THE CLUB OF ANY IMPENDING SUSPENSIONS, BORO RECEIVED NO SUCH NOTIFICATION AND HAD NO IDEA OF ANY SUSPENSIONS, BUT THEY HAVE NOW HAD SIX HARD EARNED POINTS TAKEN AWAY FROM THEM, I UNDERSTAND THAT THE CLUB ARE TO APPEAL AGAINST THE DECISION, BUT I DOUBT THAT THE NRCA WILL CHANGE THEIR DECISION.
BORO WILL GET PAST THIS LATEST HURDLE AND I REALLY THINK THE CLUB WILL STILL BE PROMOTION CANDIDATES APPROACHING THE SEASONS END, AND WILL CONTINUE TO GROW AND GROW.

UP THE BORO...........................................
