THIS BLOG WAS CREATED FROM THE VERY BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC'S FORMATION

Scarborough Athletic F.C were formed on June 25th 2007 following the winding up order imposed on the old club after the local council turned down the club's survival plans. The club were finally forced into liquidation with debts of £2.5 million by a High Court judge, and so ended the club's magnificent 128 year history, no thoughts or consideration was to be spared for anyone connected with the club or the towns footballing public. However a trust had been formed and we were prepared for such a situation should it arise. The Seadog Trust applied to the Northern Counties East League to enter newly formed Scarborough Athletic and they were succesful in their application.
The new club are a continuation of the old one, they have the same kit, badge, motto etc and most importantly have kept a large number of the old supporters. This blog was started by me from the very beginnings of Scarborough Athletic FC and will follow the fortunes, both good and bad of the newly formed club as they try to get back to the higher levels of the football pyramid where they rightly belong. A rival team has also been formed 'Scarborough Town', I do not expect that particular club will have much of a future, but do they realise the damage that they are causing to the future success of football in the town, our town cannot support 2 teams, Athetic are here to stay, we are the town's number one football team and will return to the higher levels of the game in the next few seasons..

THIS BLOG WAS ESTABLISHED FROM THE BEGINNINGS OF SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC AND WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THE CLUB ON THEIR JOURNEY BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM NOT HERE TO ADVERTISE OR MAKE MONEY FROM 3RD PARTY LISTINGS, I AM HERE TO SIMPLY FOLLOW THE CLUB AND TRY TO KEEP THIS BLOG AS INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE. COMMENTS ARE WELCOME.

THROSTLE NEST. FARSLEY.

All ready for the trip.

James Earl, the Carnegie 'keeper who shared in some good hearted banter with the Boro fans throughout the second half.

Some of the Boro fans before the kick-off.

Jubilent Boro players acknowledge their fans after the final whistle.

THIS WAS TO BE "BORO'S" FIRST LEAGUE WIN OF THE NEW SEASON, OPPONENTS WERE "LEEDS MET' CARNEGIE" WHO PLAY THEIR HOME GAMES AT "THROSTLE NEST" HOME GROUND OF "FARSLEY CELTIC FC". AFTER PARKING WITH THE REST OF THE BORO FAITHFUL, MY DAUGHTER AND MYSELF MADE OUR WAY INTO THE NEAT AND COMPACT GROUND AND TOOK OUR PLACE AMONGST THE LARGE BORO CONTINGENT UNDER COVER BEHIND THE GOAL. I WOULD ESTIMATE THERE WERE AROUND 300 FANS IN THE GROUND AND AT LEAST 250 WILL HAVE BEEN TRAVELLING BORO FANS, IT REALLY WAS LIKE A HOME GAME, AS MOST OF OUR GAMES SEEM TO BE THESE DAYS . WELL, THE GAME GOT UNDER WAY AND IN THE OPENING MINUTES IT COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN THE CARNEGIE BOYS WHO WENT IN FRONT AS THEIR LEFT WINGER (PRIMA DONNA) "MARK THOMPSON" GOT HIMSELF INTO EXCELLENT POSITIONS ON TWO OCCASIONS, BUT DID'NT SEEM TO REALISE THAT HE DID ACTUALLY HAVE TEAM MATES TO PASS THE BALL TO, HE TRIED ON BOTH OCCASIONS TO BEAT DAVE BRAMLEY IN THE BORO GOAL AT THE FAR LEFT POST, WHEN HE WAS IN EXCELLENT POSITIONS BOTH TIMES TO CROSS TO TEAM-MATES IN BETTER SHOOTING POSITIONS, THOSE TWO CHANCES WERE TO BE PRACTICALLY THE ONLY REAL CHANCES TO FALL CARNEGIES WAY, AS BORO WERE THE MUCH BETTER OF THE SIDES AND PLAYED SOME REALLY ATTRACTIVE FOOTBALL, AND IT WAS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THEY WOULD EVENTUALLY TAKE THE LEAD, THE FIRST GOAL CAME FIVE MINUTES BEFORE HALF TIME WHEN MY "MAN OF THE MATCH"- MATTY KENNETT SCORED THE GAMES BEST GOAL, A LOVELY SHOT INTO THE CORNER OF THE GOAL WHICH LEFT JAMES EARL THE CARNEGIE 'KEEPER WITH NO CHANCE AT ALL, MINUTES LATER WE WERE TWO GOALS UP AS JOE LIGHTOWLER DOUBLED THE LEAD. CARNEGIE WERE HANDED A GIFT OF A GOAL BY THE BORO DEFENCE JUST AS THE SECOND HAD KICKED OFF, BUT STAR MAN KENNETT SCORED BORO'S THIRD ON 53 MINUTES TO GIVE US BACK OUR TWO GOAL ADVANTAGE, AND AS BORO DOMINATED THE MATCH, CARL HOGG ADDED GOAL NUMBER FOUR TOWARDS THE END. SO A FINAL SCORELINE OF 4-1 SENT THE BORO FANS HOME HAPPY AND LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT GAME WHICH IS THE WILKINSON SWORD CUP TIE AGAINST RAINWORTH MW ON TUESDAY NIGHT AT QUEENSGATE. CONFIDENCE SHOULD BE HIGH AFTER THE VICTORY OVER CARNEGIE, AND A WIN SHOULD GUARANTEE A BUMPER CROWD FOR THE TEAMS FIRST HOME LEAGUE FIXTURE ON SATURDAY AGAINST BARTON. "UP THE BORO"
